Elisabeth Leonskaja, disciple of legendary pianist Sviatoslav Richter
In this edition of George Enescu, Elisabeth Leonskaja, will hold a concert dedicated to the memory of Richter. After having played over the years with all the major orchestras of the world, “last lady of the Russian school” remembers fondly the friendship he had with Richter, which began shortly after his debut as a pianist :
“Our friendship lasted in time and has become extremely important, the way Richter saw the world marked my way of thinking forever. I do not think any other gifted pianist was so spiritual.”
At the performace that will be supported by Elisabeth Leonskaja at the Romanian Athenaeum, we will hear Schubert’s Sonata in D Major, Petrarch Sonnet No. 104 of Listz and Schumann Sonata No. 1 in F sharp minor, works that Richter himself played with love.
