Entrepreneurs, top and middle managers from companies, representatives of embassies and freelancers discussed the current economic challenges, made considerations on the changing investment behavior after the 2008 global crisis and analyzed the trends on the capital market.
The event, moderated by Dan Suciu, revealed that – in spite of the many problems still plaguing the Romanian economy and the slow recovery in the EU – there are also windows of opportunity.
For instance, Răzvan Furtună, Head of Department at ERSTE Private Banking offered a concrete example of good long- term (5 to 10 years) investment, citing the fact that BCR is earning 5-6% per week by investing 300 million EUR in Romanian government bonds.
Dr. Andrei Rădulescu, Senior Investment Analyst SSIF Broker disclosed some of the fears of investors and the opportunities they keep their eyes on. Sorin Burcă-Tutunaru, Project Manager at Investiții Maurer Imobiliare suggested making real estate investments in Braşov. A booming tourist destination, the city offers the chance of 6.8% profit per year for buying unfurnished apartments or even 8.5% for furnished flats.
Giancorrado Ulrich, Chairman of Vitis Metamorfosis presented Romania’s wine-making potential, as EU’s 5th grape cultivator and 6th wine producer.
One of the most delightful moments of the evening was Gabriela Massaci’s presentation about the art of investing in art.
As Director of AnnArt Gallery, Ms Massaci estimated that the Romanian art market was worth 30 million EUR in 2013 and invited people to make unconventional, but durable investments in works of art.
