Two Romanian-born violinists, Sarah and Deborah Nemțanu, both concertmasters of major orchestras in France, have recently recorded J. S. Bach’s violin concertos for the Naïve label. In their interpretation—particularly in the Concerto for Two Violins—they adopt a more dynamic tempo than we are accustomed to, use carefully measured ornamentation, and consistently convey a sense of spontaneity. The recording also includes Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso, Op. 3.

With the same program, the two violinists will perform on September 11 as part of the “George Enescu” Festival.
