The “George Enescu” Festival
brings the best worldwide musicians together in Bucharest. The Royal
Concertgebouw Orchestra from Amsterdam is again among them. As the Ambassador
of the Netherlands in Romania I am delighted to have them here again,
especially that one of the two concertmasters of the Royal Concertgebouw
Orchestra is the well-known and much appreciated Romanian violinist Liviu
Prunaru.
My memories from the performance
of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in the 2013 edition are still vivid. I look back
with nostalgia and, I must admit, with a bit of jealousy for all of you who
will be attending this year again, since my mandate will be ending after this
summer. But I am really happy to see the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra return
for the George Enescu Festival. It is a confirmation that George Enescu
Festival is nowadays one of the most prestigious classical music events in the
world. May you all enjoy being present at this special biennial classical music
feast in Romania.
